Dr. Grace Bediako holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. She started her career with the United Nations and worked in various capacities, with Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women the Statistics Divivision, and ended her career there as the Chief of Social Statistics Section.
In 2004, she joined the Statistical Service as Government Statistician and worked for a period of eight years before joining NDPC as a Senior Technical Advisor in 2012. She later became the Acting Director- General for two years, and subsequently a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Planning, till she retired in 2019.
In November 2017, she was appointed the Board Chair of GSS and has retained the position for a second term. Dr. Bediako is an alumna of the University of Ghana, where she pursued a first degree in Statistics and Economics, and a post-graduate diploma in Population Studies at the Regional Institute of Population Studies (RIPS). She has previously served on several other boards, including the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) board.
For her meritorious services to Ghana, she was, in 2008, a recipient of a Presidential Order of Volta for Public Service.
