Robert Theophilos Kwami joined Ghana Statistical Service in December 2014 as Director of Finance. In that role, he is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the effective and efficient management of the financial resources of the Service.
Prior to joining the GSS, Robert worked at Reroy Cables Limited for 2 years and at Ecobank for 20 years. At Reroy Cables, Robert was General Manager in charge of Finance. In that role he reorganized the Finance department, improving efficiency and enhancing financial controls and reporting. In the two decades that he spent at Ecobank, Robert worked in various functions including, Internal Control, Audit and Compliance, Banking Operations, and Project Management.
He established Ecobank’s subsidiary in Tanzania. Robert was progressively given responsibilities within the Ecobank Group and rose to the position of Executive Director in the banking group’s Liberia subsidiary in 2012. Robert trained as a Chartered Accountant with Pannell Kerr Forster, a firm of Chartered Accountants. He holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School, U.K. and has professional qualifications in banking and taxation.
