Akuapem North Municipal’s population in 2021 was 105,315 with more females (55,769), representing 53.0 percent than males (49,546) constituting 47.0 percent. The Municipal occupies a land size of 450 km2 with a population density of 234.03 persons per square kilometre. The Municipality shares boundaries with Shai Osudoku and Akuapem South Districts to the South, New Juaben South and Okere District to the North, Suhum to the West and the Yilo Krobo Municipal to the East. Administratively, it has 5 zonal councils, made up of 32 elected Assembly Members and 15 Government Appointees. Akan (60.5%) is the main ethnic group in the Municipality, followed by Ewes (19.0%), Guan (9.4%), with the remaining ethnic groups (Ga Dangme and others) constituting 11.1 percent.
