Welcome to the 5 Minutes Statistical Series, a publication of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) designed to bring official statistics closer to the everyday lives of all Ghanaians.

Each edition of this series accompanies a five-minute video address delivered by the Government Statistician to explain a key statistical release from GSS in a clear, practical, and nationally relevant way. In every booklet, readers will find a short script that highlights the main results, what is driving the trends, what the numbers mean for households and businesses, and what policymakers should pay attention to. Each script is accompanied by quote cards for the release.

Our goal is simple: make official statistics easier to understand, easier to trust, and easier to use. Too often, data is seen as technical or distant. Yet statistics shape real decisions every day: what families buy, what businesses plan, and what government prioritises. This series is therefore part of our broader commitment to statistical transparency, public accountability, and evidence-based national development.
